VENDOR INFORMATION PACKAGE:
Our Annual Carnival Parade, Festival and Music Explosion will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 from
1:00pm to 10:00pm at Metropolitan Park,
downtown Jacksonville, Fl. (across from Alltel Stadium). Vending
spaces for Saturday are being sold on a first come first serve basis.
CARNIVAL ORGANIZATION OF JACKSONVILLE, INC. (COOJI) VENDOR GUIDELINES:
(Must be adhered to by all Participants)
- COOJI reserves the right to remove any
vendor from the festival site who does not comply with the established guidelines. The vendors will not be compensated for
the occurrence of any such action.
- COOJI has the sole rights for the sale
of beverages including: water, soda, beer,wine and alcohol.
- Vendors will be allowed to sell on Saturday,
October 25, 2008 from 12:00pm to 10:00pm. Proper amount of space should be requested when the vendor application form is submitted.
If you are in error, we will not be able to accommodate you with any changes.
- Each individual vendor is responsible
for collection, reporting and payment of the 7% Florida Sales tax for the sale of any items on the day of the event. Payments
must be made to the Department of Revenue of Florida
- Amplifiers or Speakers will be permitted at the discretion of COOJI.
- ONLY ITEMS LISTED on your application
form are accepted for sale by the Vending Committee on carnival day.
- Setup on Saturday, October 25 will begin
at 8:00am until 11:00am. The festival gates will open at 1:00am. Vendors must be in place by 10:00am to avoid unnecessary
delays and/or confusion. NO VENDOR WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PARK AREA AFTER 10:00AM. The Vending area must be cleared in the
evening by 10:30pm. All Vendors must clear their respective areas and must provide their own plastic bags for garbage in their
immediate surroundings.
- Vendors must provide their own materials (chairs, tables, decorations, etc.).
- COOJI will have ice on the premises for purchase.
- The FloridaState Department of Business and Professional Regulations have informed us that
each food vendor requires a temporary food service permit, please full out the attached food service application and bring
it with you. Inspectors will be on the premises during the event to inspect your operation and issue permits. There will be
a Permit fee to vendors without a restaurant license.
- No REFUNDS WILL BE MADE AFTER OCTOBER 6, 2008.

must be placed in the dumpsters located at the site.) Vending space furnished by COOJI (Fees include cost for use of propane
tanks, certification of fireproof tents, etc.).
NEEDED INFORMATION:
- All vendors must check in with a COOJI
Member on Site upon arrival.
- ALL PAYMENTS TO COOJI MUST BE CASHIER’S
CHECK OR MONEY ORDERS ONLY. NO PERSONAL CHECKS OR CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR VENDING SPACE.
GUIDELINES FOR FOOD VENDORS
(Must be adhered to by all Food Vendors)
- There shall be no smoking by persons preparing, cooking or serving foods.
- Vendors who cook with grease type products
are required, as a part of product preparation, to place roofing felt as flooring protection within allotted vendor space.
As protection on the parking lot, street or grass area to prevent grease from falling onto the asphalt, sidewalks, or grass.
ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!
- Food Vendors are required to use a grease
trap. The vendor is responsible for the proper removal and disposal of all grease from the festival area. No grease or oil
may be poured onto the pavement, grass or storm water drains or trash bins within the City of Jacksonville. THE VENDOR WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CLEAN UP OF GREASE.
- All Food Vendors are required to provide roofing felt as flooring protection within allotted vendor space. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!
- Cooking equipment, such as BBQ grills,
deep fryers, etc., which requires outdoor use, should stay out of the reach of children and away from pedestrian traffic areas.
- If running water is not available, provide
enough water for cleaning and hand-washing purposes, in booths. Refrigerators and freezers must have accurate thermometers.
All perishable foods must be refrigerated.
- Hair restraints must be worn and hands
must be kept clean. Disposable gloves are also recommended. We strongly recommended that at least one person (who is not serving
or preparing food), be designated to handle all monies.
- Provide covered containers for garbage
and trash. Cardboard boxes are not allowed and plastic garbage bags are required.
- All Food Vendors must have a fire extinguisher per cooking unit.
- All items must be stored off the floor and someone must be present at all times with food.
- Please have all food covered when not
being accessed. Also, serving utensils (forks, spoons, etc.) shall be covered or properly stored when not in use. Vendors
should guard against habits that seek to attract insects or other pests. Vendors will not be allowed to use pesticides/insecticides
or pest strips, but flypaper is satisfactory.
- Roofing felt must be place on the floor of all food booths - to protect grass.
- Vendors must take grease away with them at the end of festival.
- All food vendors must
comply with the Florida Health Department Regulation. A copy of the regulation is included.
NOTE: All permitted beverages
must be sold in cups, cans or plastic bottles. No glass
The vending fees are as follows:

There is a clean up fee of
$50.00 per day, payable
at the time of application. This fee will be refunded after delegated individuals inspect your vending space and declare the
space clean and neat. The Refund will be

each vendor must submit the following:
* The number and size of propane tanks you will be using.

The number and size of portable generators you will be using.
* Copy or proof of your "Certificate
of Flame Resistance" for the cover (tent or tarpaulin) you will be using.

Number of support staff you will have in your area.
* Number of covers (tents) you will be using.
*
Number of tables you will be using.
* Total amount of amps required for electrical appliances.

PAYMENT FORM:
A Money order or cashiers check for the full amount must accompany the application. Applicants not selected
to vend during our carnival will get their payments refunded. ABSOLUTELY NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

ITEMS ALLOWED:
- All
items sold are restricted to those listed on the participant’s application. COOJI Inc. determines the on-sight location
of all participants in the festival. COOJI Inc. reserves the right to remove from the festival any person or product not in
compliance with the rules pertaining to the "family atmosphere" of the festival, or for misrepresentation of their offerings.
- Vendors
shall not be permitted to sell or consume BEER or ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES; Violators of this rule will be arrested and/or fined
by a Jacksonville Police Officer.
SHUTDOWN TIME:
First call for closing down booths
is @ 8:00 p.m.
By 9:00 p.m. all fires must be extinguished.
By 10:00 p.m. all sales must cease.
LICENSE/INSURANCE:
Vendor must submit a copy of his/her business license to the State Inspector if applicable.
STATE FEES:
Filing and payment of fees are the
responsibility of each participant. The Florida State Department of Health will be issuing permits after their approval of
food vendors. We wish all of our vendors a successful and pleasant experience at our Annual Jacksonville Caribbean Carnival.
